I wake up 2 am on my husband's birthday, I'm in labor.
But I know its not time to sound the alarms because contractions are still 10 min apart.
I hang out in that state for about an hour, then wake M up and fill him in.
So I wate.
I stay in the non-sleepable, pretty painful, 10 min range for another two hours.
Then the time in between stared to spread out. I was only having pains about every twenty minuets and was able to get a little bit of sleep.
M wakes up at his usual time and starts getting ready for work.
I rustle my big self out of bed and ask what is he doing?
I let him know that going to work that morning was not an option.
I call one of my midwives and let her know whats going on (contractions are sporadic now). We had an appointment scheduled for that morning anyways, she suggests that we come in like normal if nothing else drastic happens.
On the way in, M is under the impression that I will drop him off at work after the appointment and drive myself home... I have a contraction in the car that tells him otherwise.
My contractions are anywhere from 5 to 10 to 20 minuets apart at his point.
My midwife checks me and - I'm 80% effaced and to at least a 6. Mmhmm, at least a 6, if not a 7.
We are told to go home and wait for the baby, because when she comes, she's coming fast.
M is not permitted to go to work that day. We stop by his office on the way home and he picks up some "stuff to work on"
I call mom and let her know whats going on. I ask if she can come up to be with us and Mara.
We get home and mom gets there a few min later. M starts filling up the birth tub. I try and clean my house the best I can amid contractions.
Mara and I eat lunch.
It's decided that mom will take Mara home now for her nap.
I go up stairs to lay down. (unbeknown to me, mom tells M to get my midwives over here asap)
But I dont call them yet. I know I'm not ready.
M comes up and sits with me. He says he has to wait to fill the tub up because the water heater ran out.
I lay there about another 1/2 hour, contractions are pretty hard, but still 5-10 min apart.
Then I kew I was ready.
I got up to go to the bathroom. Told M to fill the rest of the tub. Called my midwives. And made my way to Tiny's room.
I get in the tub in Tiny's room, the water's still a bit cold.
My Midwives get there about ten minuets later.
What happens next I think is best described by the notes in my Midwives' book:
2:52pm - Nicole starts pushing
2:54pm - Baby's head is out
2:56pm - Baby is born
I catch my baby girl in the water, hold her and cry.
Ingrid Laurel Eaton, born on her daddy's birthday, at home, in the water.

Congrats!!!! I heard earlier in the week that you had your beautiful little Ingrid, but I was waiting for your story. :-) I'm so thankful that everything went wonderfully and has been much easier! Elijah was the same, although bigger than Kaylee by a pound and a half and 4 1/2 inches, he was a breeze comparatively. I think that second babies are much easier actually--our bodies already know what to do! And post some pictures, please!!! I can't wait to meet her sometime. Much love to you and yours!
