There is a sign hanging in my uterus

And It reads "No Boys Allowed"

There was the hope of a boy with Mara, we chose not to find out with her (for many a reason) but it was a hope held onto until I saw between her legs for the first time.
Did I have the same hope this time around? no. not really.
You have to take history into account. For those of you that do not know my family history, consider yourselves blessed, but I will impart to you this tale -
It starts with my great grandparents on my mother's side. They had 6 girls. Their oldest daughter did give birth to a boy, but he did not live to see his second birthday. She went on to have a daughter, who went on to have two daughters of her own. Their second daughter, my grand mother, had three daughters. From them came 7 grand daughters - and one grandson. I am the oldest of the granddaughters and my first baby was a girl.

We went into the ultrasound apointment a few weeks ago, knowing our own future.
Never the less, I brought with me two sheets of paper and a maker that morning. Mara was given the pink sheet to run into the house with upon our arrival home reading "I have a Baby Sister"

But all that aside, we are blessed. Michael is far beyond out numbered (with our female dog included) but will be the proud daddy to two beautiful little girls. And I wont have to figure out what the hell I'm doing with a boy after generations of only having to understand girls - but that is an animal in itself...

We saw all her parts. She spun around a few times. She even chomped on her fingies for a little bit. I asked the tech to measure her foot and it was still under an inch. I was a wonderful experience to have, even if there was no shock at all when g-i-r-l was typed on the screen.

I will try to persuade at least one of the men in my life to help in getting the pictures digitized and will share them with you.

But for now I will let you know:
Her name will be Ingrid, and she is loved.

  1. Where have I been!! Little Ingrid! What a blessing! I am SO excited for you. When I was thinking about you this morning, I just had the feeling Tiny was a she. Don't ask me why, I have random thought processes. So, low and behold, I check your blog and there she is. Well, in words anyway! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
