An Ode to the early days of nursing -
days when its a mad dash to get all your pads in place after a shower,
days when you have appendages that look like they should be attached to someone named Bessy, who wears a bell around her neck,
days where you hold a beautiful creation from God in your arms and you are their soul provider.
What dirty, beautiful days.

Who me?
Praise our merciful God, I had a Baby 5 days ago and I feel great.
Ingrid's birth was fast, a bit crazy when I look back on in, but she came out beautiful and I came out with out a scratch on me. No tearing, no damage really. It might have something to do with the fact that, born at 7 pounds 11 ounces, Tiny really is tiny (compared to her 9.1 lb older sister), I know that having her birth in the water has something to do with it, but I know that the Lord had everything to do with it. My midwives warned me that recovering from a sub sequential birth is harder because your body is recovering from being 'used' more then once now. But I have received such grace! I told everyone I saw the next day that I didnt feel like I just had a baby. Its been wonderful.
Nursing has been going well. She eats great, her latch hasnt had any issues, and any pain that I've had is normal and bearable.
I cant express how wonderful it is to be in good health as I start this new adventure with my husband and two little girls!

A Tiny Story
I wake up 2 am on my husband's birthday, I'm in labor.
But I know its not time to sound the alarms because contractions are still 10 min apart.
I hang out in that state for about an hour, then wake M up and fill him in.
So I wate.
I stay in the non-sleepable, pretty painful, 10 min range for another two hours.
Then the time in between stared to spread out. I was only having pains about every twenty minuets and was able to get a little bit of sleep.
M wakes up at his usual time and starts getting ready for work.
I rustle my big self out of bed and ask what is he doing?
I let him know that going to work that morning was not an option.
I call one of my midwives and let her know whats going on (contractions are sporadic now). We had an appointment scheduled for that morning anyways, she suggests that we come in like normal if nothing else drastic happens.
On the way in, M is under the impression that I will drop him off at work after the appointment and drive myself home... I have a contraction in the car that tells him otherwise.
My contractions are anywhere from 5 to 10 to 20 minuets apart at his point.
My midwife checks me and - I'm 80% effaced and to at least a 6. Mmhmm, at least a 6, if not a 7.
We are told to go home and wait for the baby, because when she comes, she's coming fast.
M is not permitted to go to work that day. We stop by his office on the way home and he picks up some "stuff to work on"
I call mom and let her know whats going on. I ask if she can come up to be with us and Mara.
We get home and mom gets there a few min later. M starts filling up the birth tub. I try and clean my house the best I can amid contractions.
Mara and I eat lunch.
It's decided that mom will take Mara home now for her nap.
I go up stairs to lay down. (unbeknown to me, mom tells M to get my midwives over here asap)
But I dont call them yet. I know I'm not ready.
M comes up and sits with me. He says he has to wait to fill the tub up because the water heater ran out.
I lay there about another 1/2 hour, contractions are pretty hard, but still 5-10 min apart.
Then I kew I was ready.
I got up to go to the bathroom. Told M to fill the rest of the tub. Called my midwives. And made my way to Tiny's room.
I get in the tub in Tiny's room, the water's still a bit cold.
My Midwives get there about ten minuets later.
What happens next I think is best described by the notes in my Midwives' book:
2:52pm - Nicole starts pushing
2:54pm - Baby's head is out
2:56pm - Baby is born
I catch my baby girl in the water, hold her and cry.

So wheres your other kid?
SO I'm sure your wondering what the first one has been up to this whole time. I'm happy to say that she did really well with the move. I had my fears that she would all together stop sleeping, but she did wonderfully, even doing a 14hr night with in the first week of the move. There was also the fear that she would be devastated by leaving her grandparents, but I think her love of 'new house' and the fact that she was the one leaving (opposed to someone(s) leaving her) we made it out the other side.
Durring the packing and moving process, she did seem to get into everything she was ever told to leave alone, and we did have some behaviral issuse, but over all I'm proud of her.
I love her.

She got to inspect the truck before the loading process.
Drinking tea at her Daddy's favorite restaurant that we now live 5 min from (she has now found a love of 'tea' that she requests to drink from "Tiny Bowles")
And we have taken in the site at three parks that are with in walking distance from us.
